About Compress Image

A photo size reducer that works like a desktop app, in your browser. Pick Light, Recommended or Strong, or set an exact size such as 20, 50, 100 or 200 KB: each image keeps the highest resolution that fits, and its quality is raised as far as the size allows, so nothing is smaller or blurrier than it needs to be. Sizes are counted the strict way (50 KB = 50,000 bytes), so forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes accept the result too. You can also resize to exact pixel dimensions, convert to JPG, WebP or PNG, and compress a whole folder of photos at once.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 50 KB or 100 KB?+

Add the image, click 50 KB or 100 KB (or type any size under Custom) and press Compress. The resolution stays as high as the size allows and the quality is raised as far as it still fits, so you get the sharpest image under the limit.

Can I compress a photo to 20 KB for an exam or job form?+

Yes. Type 20 in Custom. A phone photo is usually 2 to 5 MB, so it is reduced to a few hundred pixels wide, which is what these forms expect. If the form also asks for exact dimensions, enter the width and height under Resize.

Which formats are supported?+

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF from iPhone, AVIF, GIF and BMP. Save as the original format, JPG, WebP or PNG. HEIC and AVIF photos are saved as JPG, which every site accepts.

Will my image lose quality?+

At the Light level the difference is hard to see. To reach a small size the image gets fewer pixels first, which keeps it clean on screen; the quality only drops when the target is very small.

Can I compress many photos at once?+

Yes. Add as many images as you like; they are processed one after the other and downloaded together as a ZIP.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?+

No. Everything is processed in your browser, and hidden data such as GPS location and camera details is removed from the compressed copy.
