About DjVu to PDF

A DjVu to PDF converter built on djvu-rs, an open-source DjVu decoder (MIT) running in your browser as WebAssembly. It decodes the JB2 text masks and IW44 colour layers of each page, keeps the page size and resolution, stores black-and-white pages with CCITT Group 4 compression and adds the hidden OCR text as a searchable layer.

Frequently asked questions

What is a DjVu file?+

DjVu is a format for scanned books and documents that keeps pages small. Many digital libraries use it, but few phones and computers can open it.

Will the PDF be searchable?+

Yes, when the DjVu file has a text layer (most library books do). The text is placed invisibly over each page, so you can search, select and copy it. For scans without text, use OCR PDF after converting.

Is the quality kept?+

Yes. Black-and-white pages are kept at their full resolution as compressed bilevel images, so text stays sharp and the file stays small. Colour pages are stored as high-quality JPEG.

My DjVu book is several files+

Some DjVu books are split into one file per page plus an index. Choose the bundled version, or combine the files first with DjVuLibre (djvmcvt -b).

Are my files uploaded?+

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your book never leaves your device.
