Frequently asked questions
Why can't I open HEIC photos on my PC?+
HEIC is the format iPhones save photos in since iOS 11. It is half the size of JPG, but Windows, many Android phones and most upload forms can't read it. Converting to JPG makes the photo open everywhere.
Does converting reduce the quality?+
At High quality the difference can't be seen, and the photo keeps its full resolution. Choose Maximum for the largest, closest copy, or Smaller file for sharing.
Can I convert many photos at once?+
Yes. Add a whole folder of HEIC photos; they are converted one after the other and download together as a ZIP.
How do I stop my iPhone from saving HEIC?+
In Settings › Camera › Formats, choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG; photos you already took stay HEIC and can be converted here.
