About Read PDF Aloud

A PDF reader that reads aloud. It rebuilds real paragraphs and headings from the PDF, skips running headers, footers and page numbers, and joins words hyphenated across lines, then reads it sentence by sentence with your browser’s voices, highlighting each sentence and word as it goes. Choose the voice and a speed from 0.75× to 2×, click any sentence to jump there, and pick up where you stopped next time. It also reads Word and text files, or text you paste. Everything runs on your device.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a PDF read aloud?+

Choose the PDF and press Play. The text is read sentence by sentence, the current sentence is highlighted and the view follows it. Click any sentence to jump there.

Which voices can I use?+

The voices of your browser and system. Edge has very natural online voices, Safari has enhanced Siri voices, and Chrome has Google voices. The best voice for the document language is picked for you, and you can switch anytime.

Does it skip headers and page numbers?+

Yes. Running headers, footers and page numbers are left out by default, and words split across lines are joined back, so the reading flows. Untick the option to hear everything.

Can I download it as MP3?+

No. Browsers do not let a page record their speech voices, so the reading plays live. Your place is remembered, so you can stop and continue later.

Why is nothing read?+

A scanned PDF has no text, only pictures of pages. Run OCR PDF first, then open the result here.

Is my PDF uploaded?+

No. The text is extracted and read in your browser, and your file never leaves your device.
