About Repair PDF
A PDF repair tool that works in three steps. It first recovers the PDF data itself, cutting off anything in front of it and decoding PDFs saved as base64 text. It then re-reads the file object by object, ignoring its broken index, drops damaged objects, rebuilds a lost page list and writes a clean file. Finally it test-renders every page: a page that fails, or has come out blank while the original still shows something, is replaced by an image of what the original still displays. The report lists what was wrong and which pages were kept, rebuilt or lost, and bookmarks, links and forms are kept wherever they survived.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my PDF say it is damaged or will not open?+
Most often the download or upload was interrupted, so the end of the file is missing, or the file index (the cross-reference table) points to the wrong places. A mail program can also add data in front of the PDF, or save it as base64 text. This tool fixes all of these.
Will I get all my pages back?+
Every page that still has its data is recovered. A page whose content is too damaged is rebuilt from what still displays, as an image, and the report lists any page that was lost.
Is the text still selectable after the repair?+
Yes for every page kept as it was. Pages rebuilt as images look right but their text is no longer selectable; run OCR PDF on the result to make it searchable again.
My file is not really a PDF. What then?+
The tool tells you what it is: an image, a Word or Excel file, a web page or an empty file, saved with a .pdf name, and how to get a real PDF from it.
Can it repair a password-protected PDF?+
Yes. If the file needs a password to open, type it and the repair continues; it is only used in your browser.
Is my file uploaded?+
No. The repair runs in your browser, so a damaged contract or statement never leaves your device.
