About Remove Background
An AI background remover that runs entirely in your browser. A general subject model (ISNet) finds the main subject in any photo, a matting model (ViTMatte) refines the band along its outline so single hairs survive, and a color decontamination pass removes the tint of the old background from the edges. Logos, icons and drawings on a flat color skip the AI and are keyed out mathematically, which keeps their edges as crisp as they were drawn. You can keep the result transparent or place it on white, any color, a blurred version of the original or your own picture.

Frequently asked questions
Is this background remover really free?+
Yes. There is no sign up, no credits and no watermark, and the download is the full resolution of your image (up to 3072 pixels on the long side on a computer), not a small preview.
Is my image uploaded to a server?+
No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser once and runs on your own device, so your photo is never sent anywhere. You can even disconnect from the internet after the first use.
Does it work with hair and fur?+
Yes. After the subject is found, a second model looks only at the outline and decides pixel by pixel how much of each strand belongs to the subject. The colors of the old background are then removed from those edge pixels, so curls and fur look natural on any new background.
What kinds of images work best?+
Photos with one clear subject: a person, a pet, a product, a car or a plant. Logos and drawings on a plain color are detected automatically and keyed out with pixel sharp edges. Group photos and busy scenes work too, and you can fix any spot by hand.
What if a part was removed by mistake?+
Open Clean up the edges. Paint with Restore over the part that should stay, or with Erase over leftovers. Removed areas are shown in red so you can see exactly what to bring back, and you can zoom in up to 10 times for fine edges.
Why does the first image take longer?+
The first time, your browser downloads the AI models (about 70 MB). They are kept in the browser cache, so later images start right away.
