Compress PDF to 50 KB

Compress a PDF to 50 KB for the strictest upload limits: pick 50 KB, drop your file, and download a copy that fits. Everything runs in your browser.

Who needs a PDF under 50 KB

Exam registrations, recruitment portals and some government forms cap each upload at 50 KB, sometimes even 20 KB, for a signature, a photo ID or a single certificate. These limits are written for one page, so a 50 KB target works best on one-page documents. A clean scan of a signature or a short typed letter fits easily; a full-color photo of a page needs most of the room.

What fits in 50 KB

  • One scanned page in gray or plain black and white, still readable.
  • One color page with a photo, at reduced resolution.
  • About 10 to 15 pages of plain typed text, if the fonts are small or standard.
  • Not a multi-page scan: two or more scanned pages rarely go below 50 KB without becoming hard to read.

Getting a file under 50 KB

  1. 1Upload only the page the form asks for: remove extra pages first with Delete pages, then compress.
  2. 2Scan in grayscale at 150 to 200 dpi rather than color at 300 dpi; the starting file is then far smaller.
  3. 3For a 20 KB limit, choose Custom, type 20 and keep the document to one simple page.

Questions about compressing to 50 KB

Can every PDF go under 50 KB?+

No. Text and fonts can only be trimmed so far, and images stop at the lowest resolution that keeps text readable. If 50 KB is out of reach, you get the smallest version we could make and a plain explanation of what takes the space.

Will my scan still be readable at 50 KB?+

For one page, usually yes. Images are never shrunk below a size where normal text stays legible, which is exactly why a long scan may not reach 50 KB.

The form says 50 KB but my 49 KB file is rejected. Why?+

Some sites count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, others as 1,000. PDFkind aims under 50,000 bytes, which passes both ways of counting.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?+

No. Compression happens in your browser, so ID cards and certificates never leave your device.
