Where PDFkind is better
- Files never leave your device. PDF24 deletes uploads within an hour, but they still travel to a server. PDFkind never uploads them.
- Edit the text that is already there. In Edit PDF you change existing lines directly instead of covering them with a new box.
- Scanned pages become editable text, not only searchable.
Where PDF24 is better
- More tools. PDF24 lists over 100 tools, about twice as many as PDFkind.
- A free offline Windows app, PDF24 Creator, for people who want to work without a browser.
- Server OCR can be easier on older phones and laptops, since the work happens on their machines.
Which one should you use?
Both are free and generous. Choose PDFkind if privacy matters or you need to edit existing text. Choose PDF24 if you want the widest set of tools or a free Windows desktop app.
