Troubleshooting
Fixes for the most common problems: nothing happens, the original file still arrives, a tool doesn’t appear.
Nothing happens when I pick a big file+
Check that the script is on the page: type PDFkind.version in the browser console, it should print 3. Then check that the attribute is on the field, the drop area, a parent, or the script (data-max), and that the file is really over the limit (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes).
The window opens, then the original file arrives after 8 seconds+
Your site’s security rules probably block frames from pdfkind.com. Add it to frame-src: see Content Security Policy. The browser console shows a message when this happens.
My code still gets the big file+
Your code reads the files before the change or drop event, or from another element. Read them from the event (e.target.files, e.dataTransfer.files), or call PDFkind.fit() yourself.
“Couldn’t get this file under 5 MB”+
The file is mostly very high-resolution scans. A lower-resolution scan, or splitting the file, fixes it. Your form receives the original and shows its usual error.
A tool doesn’t appear in my single-page app+
The element was added after the script ran. Call PDFkind.mount() after rendering it.
The tool is cut off or has a scrollbar+
Editor tools keep the height you give them: set data-height="820" or more. Other tools adjust by themselves.
The window is in the wrong language+
Set data-lang on the field or the script. See Languages.
